An SOW stands for Statement of Work or Scope of Work.  A Statement of Work (SOW) is an extremely important document that is required for any production where you are hiring an external company.  This document will be your guide for the entire project and will be referenced constantly throughout.  It’s incredibly important that you pay incredibly close attention to detail while writing the SOW.  This is a binding document.   Here is a list of some of the information that should be included (however this can vary based on the type of production)

  • Description of the project
  • Who is the client
  • Who is the target audience
  • Define the KPIs and how you will measure success
  • What are the deliverables
  • How many rounds of feedback are included
  • Technical requirements
  • Hosting/Server requirement
  • Assumptions and Dependencies
  • Project stakeholders
  • Project risks
  • QA terms
  • Analytics plan
  • Change of scope request terms
  • Timeline
  • Budget
  • Payment Terms
